Tories quietly scrap one of Iain Duncan Smith's pet welfare policies

The Conservatives admitted the trial of the Supervised Jobsearch Scheme cost more money than it saved

The Tories have scrapped one of Iain Duncan Smith’s pet welfare projects after a trial cost more than it saved, we can reveal.

The unemployed had to spend up to 35 hours every week, for 13 weeks, sat in a supervised office looking for work under the flagship Supervised Jobsearch scheme.

Forcing people to job hunt full time was meant to save cash by slashing unemployment and the benefits bill.

But taxpayers were landed with a bill for an estimated £4million after it became an expensive flop.

A pilot from October 2014 to March 2015 involved 2,373 jobseekers in four areas.

But the government lost an estimated £1,600-£1,700 per person who took part.

Good morning everyone
It is simply breathtaking the amount of money squandered on failed projects
The DWP seem to specialize in wasting tax payers money through incompetence
Of course I think politicians should also be held to account
Kind regards Stephen

Bedroom tax, Universal Credit, PIP, WCA are all costing more than they will ever save, Tories didn't do it to save money they did it to destroy people who need support.
