Tories finally make legal changes to the Bedroom Tax

Tories finally make legal changes to the Bedroom Tax after humiliating court defeat
After a 3-year case about disabled victims that cost you £100,000, one delighted campaigner said: "It is finally written in black and white"

The Tory government has made a humiliating legal climbdown over the Bedroom Tax after defeat in the Supreme Court.

In a victory for campaigners, ministers have finally confirmed all parents who need an extra room for their disabled child's carer will be spared the hated charge.

They will also allow an extra room for all couples who cannot share a bedroom due to a physical disability.

The government was forced into the move by two families who won a three-year legal fight in England's highest court in November.

Paul and Sue Rutherford launched their case for grandson Warren, 17, who needs round-the-clock care for rare chromosomal disorder Potocki-Shaffer syndrome.

Better late than never T ;-)

Will these people now be awarded reimbursement for the time they were charged and paid this hated Tax. It is only right that they should get back what was paid IMO. With interest too.

If the ruling is retrospective then there's every chance they'll get a refund.

I'm glad I no longer qualify for housing benefit, it was a pain in the ass having to deal with the council.

The people need to vote for the way they think. Appealing this could be suicide for the Tories. I bloody hope so.

They don't want to lose this case do they
Loss of funds for Councils (due to back payments) will create a massive thorn in the side of a Tory Govt.
